Ted Cruz’s Democratic Challenger Colin Allred Outraises Him By Almost $2M In Third Quarter

Congressman Colin Allred, the leading Democratic candidate hoping to unseat Texas Senator Ted Cruz in 2024, outraised the Republican Senator in campaign contributions by nearly $2 million during the third quarter.

Allred brought in more than $4.7 million in donations during the third quarter, according to records his team filed Sunday with the Federal Election Commission, far outpacing Cruz’s $3 million.

Allred, a third-term House member, reported a cash-on-hand total of $7.9 million, having raised $10.9 million since announcing his bid for Cruz’s seat in early May while Cruz reports $5.4 million total in the bank at the third quarter’s close.

"Texans' enthusiasm to retire Ted Cruz—and to elect Colin Allred to the Senate—is reflected in this quarter's amazing outpouring of grassroots support," Allred's campaign manager, Paige Hutchinson, said in a statement.
