Democrat Introduces Resolution To Censure Marjorie Taylor Greene
Freshman Congresswoman Becca Balint, a Democrat from Vermont, has introduced a resolution to censure Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. The censure was first proposed after Greene displayed naked pictures of President Biden’s son Hunter in a Congressional hearing in July, but includes 40 other examples of Greene’s disgraceful comments and actions that make her unfit for office.
The resolution condemns Greene for repeatedly fanning the flames of “racism, antisemitism, LGBTQ hate speech, Islamophobia, anti-Asian hate, xenophobia, and other forms of hatred.”
In a statement on her introduction of the censure, Congresswoman Balint said “For me, censuring Rep. Taylor Greene is about the health of our democracy and faith in government. Her antisemitic, racist, transphobic rhetoric has no place in the House of Representatives.” Balint also stated “This job is about alleviating suffering and supporting our communities, and instead Taylor Greene uses her position as a megaphone for conspiracy theories and hate speech. There must be a counterforce that comes from within Congress. It begins with principled members standing up and saying we have had enough.”
“This woman, Marjorie Taylor Greene — it seems to be her only purpose is to sic Americans after other Americans, to fend more hatred, to fan more dissension and fear-mongering,” Balint said. “We have got to have a bottom here.”
The resolution was introduced as privileged giving the House two legislative days to consider the measure on the House floor.
